This public house was formerly a Victorian girl’s school and was built in the 1960s.
Paranormal Activity
A phantom barman is said to haunt this old pub. Janice who owns the pubs with her husband Patrick said the ghost started its antics nine months ago by filling up customer’s glasses when they visit the toilet. Drinkers have nicknamed the phantom barman Reedy after actor and legendary boozer Oliver Reed.

History
Built in 1492, this historic timbered landmark was originally consisting of 3 dwellings dating back to c 1150 and has been home to some important people over the years such as Sir Richard Lyster the Chief Justice of England, George Rogers a successful artist and John Dawtrey who created the building that is known today.
In recent years the building has slowly declined and has been lucky enough to receive almost £1.6 million from various funds to fund its restoration.
Paranormal Activity
One of Southampton’s most haunted locations, this old timbered building has reported many unexplained activity by staff and visitors alike including one room that members of the public have had paranormal experiences in and the Green Room that dogs refuse to enter and apparitions have been seen.
Dark figures have been seen and an ominous presence has been felt. In the upper Georgian room orbs have been caught on cameras and physical touching sensations have been felt. This room has also reported strong EMF readings of magnetic fields.
Unexplained footsteps and loud bangs have also been heard.

The Rising Sun is set near the centre of the historic city of Winchester and offers bed and breakfast facilities.
Paranormal Activity
The Rising Sun is a host to paranormal strangeness from blood appearing on the walls of the cellar through to barrels knocking themselves over where legend says a Roundhead soldier was imprisoned during the English civil war. Room 3 is to be avoided as many a visitor has reported an uneasy night sleep with the feeling of a disturbing presence in the room. Thefts from the pub safe have been reported even through the infrared security system catches nothing.
