History
Since 1953 the house has been a police training college, but reference to Bramshill (Bromeselle) can be traced back to Saxon times. In 1605, Edward Lord Zouche of Harringworth became lord of the manor and demolished a large part of the building and began to build the present house. This was completed in 1612. In 1699, it passed to Sir John Cope. The ghost is thought to be a member of his family.
Paranormal Activity
On a wedding day the family were playing games and everyone was having fun. Some were playing hide and seek and one family member found an old chest and hid inside. Nobody could find him. Went it went quiet, thinking everyone had given up he went to get out but the lid wouldn't move. No matter how hard he tried it wouldn't open. He shouted and screamed but nobody came. Eventually there was no air left in the chest and he suffocated. The ghost is said to wander through the house hoping to find someone who can release him.

The Hyde Tavern is an old establishment and, surely, Winchester's smallest pub. It is at the lower end of Hyde Street - a comfortable 10 to 15 minute walk from the centre of town.
Paranormal Activity
Supposedly the oldest pub in the city, it is reputed to be haunted by a ghost that pulls the bed clothes off visitors. The ghost is blamed on a woman who is supposed to have died from cold and hunger in the one of the rooms centuries ago.
