The Trevor Arms Hotel & Restaurant
Beech Lane Marford Hill Marford Wrexham LL12 8TA
|
|
History
This hotel is a grade II listed building situated on the Welsh border but is sadly in need of renovation. Set in the picturesque village of Marford the Trevor Arms dates back to 1811 when it took over the function of a tollhouse from an adjacent cottage. It later became a coaching house. Marford is famous for its quaint looking Gothic cottages some originally having, including the Trevor Arms, crucifixes or crosses built into the very fabric of the buildings to protect the inhabitants from evil spirits. Sadly most of the houses have now been modernised and no traces of the crosses can be found.
Paranormal Activity
This hotel has been the subject of ghost hunting for a while, mainly due to historical records, which confirm Marford as a centre for execution in the past. Lady Margaret Blackbourne is said to be the ghost that haunts Marford, a woman who was cruelly murdered by her husband in the 18th Century and who now wanders through the village, terrifying its residents. Orb activity has been noted at this hotel.

Paranormal Activity
The ghostly goings-on at this hotel was sent in to xmotu by a visitor to the site. This is what they had to say; "I stayed in this hotel with a friend. He opened the wardrobe door, only to my fright that I saw something. My friend did not. However, when he placed his hand in to hang up his jacket his hands went icy cold and dropped the jacket. I however, saw something different. I saw a man’s white face with his head to the side. It was awful. To my surprise the next day I was told that, the place where Id stayed, Oliver Cromwell had been known to hang 12 monks. It was the SCARIEST moment of my life."

Muncaster Castle
Muncaster Ravenglass CA18 1RQ West Cumbria
|
|
History
Muncaster Castle has remained a family lived in home since 1208 by the Pennington Family and is famous for its stories of a court jester, Tom Skelton, who worked at the castle in the 16th Century as well as its links to Shakespeare. Sitting romantically on the Western Lake District the castle is now host to private weddings, functions and parties as well as being a hotel for visitors to the area.
Paranormal Activity
Muncaster Castle is said to be one of Britain’s most haunted places with many of its haunted tales being from its resident spirit Tom the court jester. Although rarely seen he is often known to play tricks on visitors to Muncaster. Visitors have often complained of disturbed nights when staying in The Tapestry Room, with the sound of footsteps outside the room and seeing the door handle turn but upon the door opening no one has been there. A child is frequently heard crying towards the window end of the Tapestry Room and sometimes a lady can be heard singing as if comforting a sick child. Visitors have also felt temperature drops in this room.
Other spooky goings on concern the ‘Muncaster Boggle’ or White Lady who haunts the gardens and roadways around Muncaster. She is often said to be the ghost of Mary Bragg, a young girl who was murdered in the early 1800s on the road near the Main Gate.
If you wish to experience the haunted castle for yourself, Muncaster offer overnight ghost sits. Please visit their website for more information.
