This photograph was taken in 1966 by Rev. Ralph Hardy, a retired clergyman. Taken in the Queen's
House section of the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England he only intended to take a
photograph of the elegant spiral staircase, known as the 'Tulip Staircase' but when the photograph
was developed a shrouded figure was revealed to be climbing the stairs, seeming to hold the railing
with both hands.
Expert opinion, including some from Kodak, is that the original negative
has not been tampered with. It is also said that the unexplained figure has been seen on other
occasions in the vicinity of the staircase, along with unexplained footsteps.
