Arnold’s Bar

History

This old building was originally named the Thirsty Scholar before it became the American fast food joint, re-named as Arnold’s Bar, it is known as today.

Paranormal Activity

The spirit of a Civil War armourer has made contact at this old Welsh establishment when investigators have held a vigil here. The spirits have been so renowned here that even a priest was once called in to 'calm' the spirits. Shadows have often manifested here, especially around the rear windows of the building. Temperature drops and a general uneasy feeling have been felt in the cellar and movement has been sighted that cannot be explained. A ‘busy’ light anomaly has also been reported within the entrance to the tunnel area.

The Golden Lion

12 High Street
Town Centre
Wrexham LL13 8HP
North Wales
The Golden Lion

History

This pub is believed to have had a licence as far back as 1684 and became an inn in 1700. The house was originally the house of the Pulford family and was known to have had quite a status during the 17th Century. Although subdivided for a time into shops the building was once again made into an inn by 1740. The pub was originally timber framed but has been extensively rebuilt in brick, however some of the timber framing has been exposed in recent years such as in the interior gable and wall.

Paranormal Activity

Orb activity has been recorded at this old inn when night vision cameras have been set up in a large empty bedroom on the second floor and in a tunnel under the bar. Visitors to the pub have also experienced strange noises, thuds and bangs and cold breezes but no accurate recordings have been collated due to the poor interior of the building. However a medium visiting the pub reported to have made contact with an angry ghost by the name of Nathanial Liggett who claimed to have been a Parliamentarian prisoner in 1640.

Llandoger Trow

King Street
Bristol

Bristol
Llandoger Trow

History

This old pub in the centre of Bristol was built in 1664 and was once partially destroyed by a bomb in the Second World War but three of the original five projecting gables have remained. Tradition has it that Daniel Defoe met Alexander Selkirk (Robinson Crusoe) here. The pub is also believed to be the inspiration for the Admiral Benbow in Treasure Island.

During the Victorian era the pub was associated with the Theatre Royal across the road and was visited by many performers and musicians.

The pub now remains a grade II listed building and is reputed to have underground passages which smugglers once used.

Paranormal Activity

This old Bristol pub is alleged to have at least 15 ghosts. The most famous story haunting this building is that of a young boy who wore leg braces when he was alive. It is said his footsteps can be heard on the staircase and in the attic during the middle of the night.
